Located in the Village of Leicester, NY in the former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western mainline depot is Gatherings at the Depot. We are committed to showcasing original art and also accommodate arts education and outreach activities. Our goal is to provide an excellent opportunity for artists to creatively display their works of art for sale. While Gatherings at the Depot features original artworks and distinctive gifts, it also offers a full espresso bar, specialty coffees, teas, smoothies, soups, sandwiches, salads and delicious pastries.
The 1915 brick Arts & Crafts style station is a classic in itself, built in the grand tradition with DL&W’s penchant for construction quality as well as architectural quality. It has survived almost all intact, a remarkable feat considering that DL&W closed the agency during the depths of the Great Depression in the early 1930’s.
Long time owner Felix Valentino envisioned a time when the building would reopen with a historic railroad theme. Felix collected railroad memorabilia including the lanterns, signs, timetables and passenger benches that are showcased in the depot. Felix would be delighted to see his railroad station has opened after a loving interior restoration by his daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Vince Santucci the proud owners / proprietors of this establishment. Stop by and browse, have an espresso or stay for lunch if you are passing through the area. We are located near Letchworth State Park the “Grand Canyon of the East.”
